In this post: A terribly boring read that will take all enthusiasm for Christmas out of you.

No. This is definitely the most boring story I have read all year. Thank goodness it was a short one, at least.
This story gives the energy of family members sitting at a table and catching up on life, except it is a family that does not like each other nor tries to hide it. Reginald, the protagonist, goes count by count of the people in the room and how he: a) doesn't like them, b) isn't liked by them, or c) both a and b.
As entertaining as it may sound to get detailed, fictional drama of who hates who, the story is so short that the reader does not have time to feel invested in any of the characters.
The story also just does not make sense generally. For example, take this quote:
The hall was horribly draughty, but it seemed to be the proper place to revel in, and it was decorated with Japanese fans and Chinese lanterns, which gave it a very Old English effect.
How is it possible for Asian culture to give off an "Old English" effect? It isn't.
The story was so puzzling to read that I got upset and forgot I was trying to read it to get into the Christmas spirit. Maybe you'll have a different experience! Read it for yourself here and tell me what you think.

Re-read when:
You want to read fictional drama
You want to avoid getting into the Christmas spirit
You want to be confused (haha)
